“The confluence of 11s in version number, year and day has prompted the company to announce the release of VirusBarrier X6 10.6.11, a major free update to its acclaimed anti-malware and network protection tool,” the announcement reads.Īccording to its makers, VirusBarrier X6 adds 11+ new key features, offering enhanced memory management, improved scanning, and detection of additional types of attacks, while also improving performance and reliability.Īdditionally, the new release also delivers a new Mini Scanner, which provides a small, floating orb where users can drag and drop files for instant scans, the company said. “Intego, the Mac security specialist, has 11 on the brain,” the company said in an announcement posted to its web site this week. The update brings a total of 11 new features and improvements.

As we have not yet seen if or how this threat is installed on a user’s system, it may be that an installer component would try to establish root permissions. Depending on whether or not the dropper runs on a user account with root permissions, it will install different components. The Trojan preserves itself against reboots, so it will continue to run until it’s removed.
